Antitumor Constituents of Polyporus giganteus

Abstract
|
|
|
To investigate antitumor constituents of higher fungi, the carpophore of Polyporus giganteus Pers. ex Fr. which were collected in Indiana, U.S.A. were examined for antitumor activity. Two polysaccharide fractions were prepared from the hot water extract and one fraction from the 0.1 N NaOH etract of the carpophores. the antitumor effect of each fraction was tested against sarcoma 180 implanted subcutaneously in ICR mice.
The most active fraction was that obtained as the three-fold ethanol precipitate from the hot water extract.
